I feel like I've been sitting on this news forever and I'm so excited to finally share it with you! The Weaving Kind has teamed up with The Makerie to put on the first-ever modern weavers retreat and I'm happy to announce that I will be one of the instructors!
From the Makerie website:
The first Weaving Kind Makerie is set at the foot of the majestic Flatirons of Boulder, Colorado, at the historic Colorado Chautauqua. The campus, which backs up to hiking trails among breathtaking scenery, has been a venue for creative cultural learning since 1886. In cozy, time-seasoned buildings on a beautiful campus, you will take part in intimate workshops taught by your fiber art heroes, nourish your well-being with special self-care sessions, try incredible looms, tools and fibers, enjoy locally-sourced, healthy delicious meals, build friendships with other weavers, and be inspired by our instructor panels and evening speakers to set deeper intentions for a lifelong weaving practice.
Other speakers and instructors include: Maryanne Moodie, Sarah Neubert, Erin M. Riley, Janelle Pietrzak, Meghan Shimek, Natalie Novak, and Neil Goss.
There's waaaay to much cool information for me to cover here, I urge you to visit the website to learn more!
I'll be leading a class about furthering your practice through alternative materials - I'll introduce you to my own method of getting out of a creative rut and then we'll delve into a huge pile of weird and wonderful supplies, open up a conversation about sustainable practices and see what we can come up with! This class is suitable for all levels - beginners: we will review weaving basics.
